THE PLANETARY HEALING CENTRE & PLANETARY HEALING COMMUNITY WOODLAND
Mycobee Mushrooms collaborate with The Planetary Healing Centre, who share similar mission and ethos. Our collaboration is bringing Foraging Events and Mushroom growing classes to Planetary Healing Community Woodland.
The charity was founded in 2003 by a group of like-minded individuals with the desire to help others in the community who were struggling with their health and wellbeing. The charity s initial focus was to provide Holistic Health support for people who were unable to afford the full cost of therapies. Today the main focus is in Nature Connection outdoors work with volunteers. It is important to recognise there are many people who value and seek a holistic approach for their health and wellbeing to complement the support they receive from medical and other health professionals. Approximately 200 beneficiaries are impacted and supported on a regular basis by the charity work every year.
The Planetary Healing Centre work is rooted in connection to nature and connection to community. They recognise that an empowered individual with greater awareness and understanding of themselves can positively impact awareness and understanding of the surrounding community and the Earth.
Upcoming Events
In 2022 we will be running 6 days (3 weekends, Saturday & Sunday) mushroom growing courses at Planetary Healing Woodland in Balerno.
First weekend, Level 1, 2 days
Day 1: Introduction to mushrooms, their importance for Nature and humans. Foraging walk, edible and poisonous fungi ID. Introduction to mushroom growing. Mushroom life cycle. Taking spore prints and cloning mushrooms. Preparing and soaking straw as mushroom substrate using cold pasteurization method.
Day 2: Types of cultivated mushrooms. Mushroom spawn inoculation, making oyster mushroom grow bags.
Second weekend, Level 2, 2 days
Day 3: Knowing your trees. Inoculating Mushrooms on logs. Types of cultivated mushrooms on logs.
Day 4: Outdoor mushroom beds on organic substrates
Third weekend, Level 3, 2 days
Day 5: Mycoworms & mushroom compost from spent mushroom substrates. Community Forest Gardens
Day 6: Fungi Fun Day for wellbeing, Family Fun day. Mushroom Art. Mushroom food, tea, coffee. Mushroom stories and legends by the fire.
