English name: Yellow Fieldcap

Polish name: Gnojanka żółtawa


This little mushroom is also called Bolbitius vitellinus, it grows on very well fertilised soil, rotting straw, dung and grass.

When young, it has yellow egg shape cap, sometimes it is called Egg Yolk Fungus.

When matured cap becomes pale brown and cinnamon gills.

It is one of the shortest living mushroom, last maximum 24h, usually comes up two days after rain.

It is classified as inedible due to its small size and short life.

Common in U.K., can be found June - October.
