We are delighted to collaborate with K-Woodlands to bring to East Kilbride Community our Mushroom Growing Project and Foraging Events. The word from Trustees: ''The East Kilbride Community Trust became a recognised Scottish charity (no. SC040731) on 8th August 2009. We are Lanarkshire’s most successful charity that supports the most vulnerable people by providing recreational facilities for sports, and environmental activities in our award winning social-urban community woodland. Our aim is to bring the community together and to promote a healthy , eco-friendly and sociable lifestyle to all.

One of our sites is at K-Woodlands at 1 Burley Place in East Kilbride. We have made much progress into turning the neglected woodland at our site into an award winning urban woodland and making it a welcoming social outdoor space that promotes our communities physical and emotional health in addition to their mental well-being. With the help of our dedicated volunteers we have successfully ran community awareness by creating various projects in a bid to tackle the loneliness and isolation people have suffered, especially through the current pandemic.

We regularly hold family community events such as Makaton Book-bug, growing and fitness projects for our Adults with additional support needs and learning disability community, Thai Chi for our older and active community, and forest school sessions and outdoor play sessions for our younger community. We also host regular outdoor cinema screenings in our woods and health walks for the self referred patients from our local doctor surgeries.''
