Poria Cocos

The vital mushroom Poria Cocos has long been highly prized in East Asia. It has traditionally been used as a tonic to enhance vitality and general well-being. It is also valued for its promotion of the harmonious flow of vital energy, especially with advancing age. In China it is called Fu Ling.

Poria Cocos occurs naturally mainly in the east of China. It also occurs in Australia and the south-east of the USA. It grows in the ground under pine trees. This vital mushroom is also known by the name of “coconut mushroom”, but this is due to its appearance rather than to its taste.

Its round form and brown skin evoke a small coconut. In English, Poria Cocos is called "Indian Bread", "Indian Potato" or "Tuckahoe".
